Founded and steered by Bryan Ferry, arguably one of this country’s best songwriters, Roxy Music are considered to be one of the most influential bands ever, inspiring artists as diverse as the Sex Pistols, Japan and Chic. Their truly original, avant-garde style, blended with melodic commerciality, produced music that still sounds relevant today. The early years, up until the break up /rest in 1975, saw the release of their ground-breaking albums. After a four year hiatus they stormed back with Manifesto and followed this with more radio friendly albums from which came a string of classic songs which have been described by some as ‘perfect pop’. Listen and judge for yourself.
Anyone fancy doing a Brian Ferry solo toppermost – or Brain Fury or Byron Ferrari as the NME used to call him – that would be neat neat neat …
